The burnt orange shade is trending on Pinterest.
Terracotta, known for its timeless appeal, has made a comeback as an interior design trend, House Beautiful magazine says. It notes that the material re-emerged as a popular choice for interior flooring, tiling, and other design features over the past year.
The color–specifically the burnt orange shade that terracotta is so famous for–has become a key design statement, extending to more than just floor tiles and plant pots.
Terracotta is now the go-to shade for chic inspiring interiors, home accessories and stylish soft furnishings, whether that's on a wall, new cushions or a sofa.
Tile manufacturer, Original Style, said at the time: 'The natural stone of the past has just started to make a huge comeback, so if you want to stay ahead of the curve, it would be wise to invest in new flooring or spruce up those old tiles.'
But the fired clay material is not the only key feature. The colour – specifically the burnt orange shade that terracotta is so famous for – has become a key design statement too, extending to more than just floor tiles and plant pots.
'Terracotta is taking over this season with its rich, earthy red and brown tones that are easy to incorporate into wardrobes, makeup boxes and interior features,' says Pinterest. 'Think toasted shades like cinnamon, rust, ochre, pale pink, and burgundy, Pinterest users are looking for more ways to incorporate terracotta into their lives.'
With more than 200 million people using Pinterest around the world each month, Pinterest has revealed that saves for terracotta has increased by 95 per cent in the UK in just the past six months.
